We hope Jessica Simpson's boyfriend, Tony Romo, was backstage to comfort her last week after a tough crowd booed her new country song.

After all, it was the Cowboys quarterback who encouraged Jess, 28, to make the brave move to country in the first place!

According to friends, Tony, 28, has been responsible for giving Jess her newfound career confidence. "Tony tells her not to let life pass her by," a pal of Jessica tells OK!.

Tony is also the first to boost Jess about her body! Jessica admits that she's "packed on a few pounds but she doesn't care," the source tells OK!.

"She's loving life and isn't trying to be Daisy Duke. Besides, if Tony loves the way she looks, who is anyone else to complain?"
